Landed at LAX yesterday, quickly found Donald (he landed 1/2 hour before me and was waiting for me at my luggage carousel. Love him.), got changed, grabbed a cab and headed into Hollywood for my meeting. Had a hoot with the gals there, got some celebrity BREAKING gossip while I was visiting as well (Dena, I'll fill you in when I get home but it has to do with a transgendered teen who's CELEBRITY parents just took her out of school here in LA to avoid the embarrassment as it's all about to hit the fan. And it's kinda sad because we love her parents).

Also got the chance for product placement in a new fall drama for TNT starring Timothy Dutton.
Anyone have an ideas for cool, funky, sleek items for the desk of a cool, sleek, male executive? I need something yesterday so leave me a comment with your ideas including link ASAP.

Anyway, dashed out of there, cabbed it back to LAX, grabbed my husband (God love him... waited at airport for a total of 4 hours for me), hopped back in the cab and cabbed to Disneyland. Total cab cost: $200.00. Insane. Should have rented a car but, believe it or not, didn't have time. (Just so you know, $200.00 is the same cost as a cab from Whistler to Vancouver.) (Don't ask.)

By this time I was starving and tired so I'm so glad I'm packing healthy snacks these days.

I'm popping more and more. I'm not that big by any means, but I'm popping nonetheless. Here I am at Disney last night:

So funny... I'm so skinny and yet have this weird shape to the front of me.

Mom will probably laugh and call me silly for posting these pics when, to other people, I just look chunky, but trust me the pictures don't do the baby bump justice!

By the way? Disney is GREAT (if you're three years old).

Weather seems to be warming up, it's 11:30am, I think I'll pack in the work and hit the pool

Later.

Week 13!

We're officially in the 2nd trimester. But we're still not telling the world yet.

I'm feeling pregnant now. It's hard to explain becuase I'm not very big, I'm just feeling, "more". It's bizarre. My dreams are still weird, and incredibly lucid, but I'm liking that! I'm looking for something I can take for the plane ride on Thursday because I get airsick now (over the past year... I'm not a good traveller anymore), and I don't know what's safe to take during pregnancy. I've got to find out, because I got a little motion sickness on the skytrain thismorning... so you just KNOW if there's any turbulence on the way to LA, I'll be a friggin' basket case.

The baby is now 3 inches long and weights an ounce. The placenta weighs about an ounce too. All the teeth are in and ready to go. The fingerprints are fully formed. The intestines are still moving inside to where they're supposed to be. His neck is getting longer and his chin has now lifted off his chest.

Here's a pic of how it looks right now:

More like a baby, less like an alien....

All for now.

I dreamt last night that we had a boy! This is the 2nd dream about our baby, and the 2nd time he was a boy. And, I've got to say, he is SO cute. Phew! Happy it's a cute baby and not one of the ugly ones. (Before you all yell at me, I was an ugly baby myself.)

On another note, showed Donald the post from last night and we both got kind of grossed out by the 2nd belly pic (the one front on). The one before it, from above, is all right because it looks cute and chubby, but the one from the front? Ewwwww.

Oh well, whatevs.

I'm sitting here watching my favourite new show, Ashley Paige: Bikini or Bust, typing on my new groovy computer

watching Chicken attack a piece of lint

when all of a sudden I notice my belly.

It's totally sticking out. It's hilarious. It's gorgeous.

And it hangs to the right.

Week 12.

Two different thoughts I found: I am officially in the 2nd trimester, OR, the 2nd trimester officially starts next week. Whatever. I'm at week 12. And he looks like this:

I love the first one! How cute is that? Looks like he's floating in a cloud. But I thought he'd look more like a baby now and less like an alien. That's why I put the pic of his foot on here too. And the 3d ultrasound. God, 3d ultrasounds are CREEPY. Not getting one unless it's better for diagnostics if the blood tests come back freaky. Quick fact: an extremely high percentage of babies COVER THEIR EYES when a 3d ultrasound is performed. So yeah, it's not "cute" that they cover their eyes... they're traumatized (trying to find the link and will provide when I do find it). Not going there. Nothing against the folks that do, but it's not for me. (Again, unless 3d's are better diagnostic tools, and ONLY if need be.)

Anyhow, I digress.

I'm feeling great. Still a bit crampy now and then. Boobs still sore, thought that would have slowed down by now, but not yet. I don't expect this to change at all, but I'm still having to eat as soon as I get the inkling, and same goes with using the washroom. When I gotta go, I gotta go. When I gotta eat, I gotta eat. End of story. Donald is getting used to it now. But he does make a great point when he asks, "Why don't you carry a little snack with you." I don't know why it never dawned on me. So I'll buy something next time we're grocery shopping. Something handy and healthy.

Clothing? Not fitting. Not fitting comfortably anyway. Still looking chunky moreso than pregnant. Having a great time with it all though.

Enough about me, onto the baby:

Vocal chords are beginning to form, his eyes are moving closer (maybe next week he won't look so much like an alien?) and his ears move to their normal place on the side of his head. His intestines are moving farther into his body (wtf?) and his liver begins to function. The pancreas begins to produce insulin (had no idea that's where it is produced).

His bones have begun to grow and his backbone and ribs are formed... still soft, they'll harden later.

He's 2.13 inches and has doubled his weight from last week to a whopping 14 grams!

We had a wonderful couple of days in Whistler. No pictures, kept forgetting to take out the camera, but came home nice and relaxed and happy to have celebrated our 2nd anniversary pregnant! We went walking around a golf course until I remembered that Whistler is BEAR COUNTRY and decided to go shopping instead, and Donald looked at me and said that I actually looked pregnant. "Fat, or pregnant?" "Definitely pregnant". So perhaps I did pop a little bit. My body is just such a weird shape right now, but I'm loving it! Totally found a 0.0% beer. Kind of barleyish, but who cares...the taste of beer was delightful.

I miss beer.

We've been talking lately of what I'm going to have for my First Meal post-pregnancy (meaning in the hospital and as soon as I can!) and I decided on Tojo's sushi (and only Tojo's) and I think a mimosa. Deeners and I were chatting about it and I didn't think I could handle alcohol but she mentioned mimosa and it's kind of sounding good. We'll see. But Tojo's for sure.

Week 11

I think I'm going to stop weighing myself, and leave that up to the doctor. My scale is all over the place.

Or my weight is.

Thismorning I weighed in at 123.8 lbs. Tuesday I was 124.8. Who's to say? I can't be losing weight, can I? I mean my waist is expanding! Go figure.

Not too much new going on. Still get the odd cramping session and butterflies, like I'm being tickled from the inside. And my insides feels a bit tight. Hard to explain.

I've got to eat every 4 hours or I'm a BEAR. And that total starvation feeling hits me like a ton of bricks and I've got to eat at that very moment or all hell breaks loose. As Tim Ferris mastered the 4-hour work week, I'm mastering the every-4-hour sandwich.

We're heading to the Stevie Wonder show on Saturday and then off to Whistler for our anniverary get-away until Monday night. We're hitting LA and Anaheim from July 24-30, then our next doctor appointment on August 1. We'll announce the pregnancy to everyone on the 2nd although most people know (but not our friends or Donald's family. Or Dad.) We just really want to hear the heartbeat before that. I am more nervous than I thought about it actually. This is the time last year that everything happened, so I'm just sitting on pins & needles waiting to hear his heart. Trying to keep myself very busy in the meantime.

So here's what he's like at 11 weeks:

The critical part of his development is over, now it's a major growth stage. His liver, intestines, brain and lungs are functioning on their own. Amazing, at only 11 weeks all this is happening! His hair starts to grow. Genitals begin to take on the gender characteristics. Kidneys are beginning to function so the amniotic fluid is accumulating.

He's 1.61 inches and weighs 7 grams. He's getting big!

How are his mom and dad doing?

Totally arguing about putting a mural in his room. His mom hates murals. His dad likes them.

Mom will win this battle.

Next week I might start putting up belly pics. Might. I'm not sure I can stand to look at them myself. I can't wait to start looking pregnant instead of chunky.

All for now.

Baby Lee's first concert, George Michael.

And what a concert it was! The best I've seen in years. Maybe even EVER. Had a great time. If it's a boy, we're tossing around the name George, the concert was THAT good.

At what age do we tell him he's named after a homosexual singer who gets busted in men's washrooms trolling for a piece?

Later.

My pregnancy just got WAY funner.

Dena is pregnant too! She's just past 16 weeks now, due Dec 17. YAY, a pregnant best friend!

Congrats Deeners, love you.

We're having a blast already. Too fun.

10 weeks and still going strong!

Something else I've noticed that I forgot to mention is that when I'm hungry... I'm HUNGRY. It's not like, "oh, I'm getting hungry, I should start making something." It's more like I'm STARVING right away. No time to "prepare" anything, I've got to eat NOW. So that's when I shove down cheese and crackers to tide me over until lunch or supper's ready. And that's why I've learned to prepare everything well in advance. For example, I made my egg sandwich at 7am thismorning and my salad dressing (boo hoo to no garlic) and fish marinade for supper, I'll make after lunch.

I weigh 124.4 lbs which is odd that I'm still losing weight. Now I'm down 2.2 lbs from last week, and yet I look like I've gained weight (remember? No waist anymore). Could be my scale. At the doctor's last week I weighed in at 122lbs even though my scale said different. Who knows. Everything I've researched says it's ok, so I'm not worried. I'll just mention it again at my next appt.

Looks the same as the ultrasound from last week, only he's longer now. 1.2 inches. And he weights 4 grams (again... Dena??? What's that in english?) (Canadian, not British!). It's so cute I have to post it again:

He looks more like a person now, than a bean. He's swallowing now, and kicking. Each day new things are happening, like fingernails and peach-fuzz! His irises are developed and his eye colour is determined already! His vital organs are fully formed and functional. His spine is developed and spinal nerves stretch out from the spinal cord. His genitalia is forming. We're 8 weeks away from finding out if he's a boy or a girl!

My uterus is now the size of a grapefruit.

And so are my boobs!

Later.
